     Butter Highlights

     Report 21 - Released on May 24, 2019

Nationwide, butter production is uneven or mixed, but is expected to be more active during
the upcoming holiday weekend as most plants will be actively churning cream. Ice
cream/frozen dessert manufacturers continue pulling considerable amounts of butterfat, in
some instances, limiting the access to cream spot loads for some butter makers. In these
cases, microfixing is the main output alternative to produce print butter. Butter demand is
reported fair/good from several market channels such as groceries stores, wholesalers, and
restaurants across the country. This week, bulk butter pricing varies among the regions:
East, 6.0 cents to 8.0 cents over the market; Central, 2.0 cents to 10.0 cents above the
market; West, 2.0 cents to 7.5 cents over the market, with various periods and averages
used. Todays CME Group cash price for Grade AA butter is $2.3875, up $0.0475, compared to
     last Fridays price.
